The fear of the LORD is the beginning of
wisdom,
And the knowledge of the
Holy One is understanding.
Proverbs 9:10
Just nineteen words that you
do not hear in any context today about the unfolding crises in the world.
Everyone seems to have some idea or plan to save the world, but it is totally
amazing, none of those plans include God in any fashion. Some of that I suppose
is that God doesnÕt consider a top priority that everyone on earth currently,
have a large flat screen TV and a retirement account which you can use to quit
early and become a human consumptive vegetable.
What we see almost
everywhere is greed, cancerous greed, empowered by collusion. Much of that
collusion is political, which means in this country that the two political
parties maintain control of all elections by forcing political candidates to
espouse exclusively exclusive views to receive funding to run for office.
Putting it in a larger
context and expanding this enlightened view of extremism, the United States
just finished the eight-year leadership of a true laissez-faire capitalist,
evangelical Christian. Under the leadership of George W Bush we have seen the
demise of both laissez-faire capitalism and religious right Christendom.
The significant fruit of
that exclusive exclusiveness is that Americans elected the most leftist
president in the history of the country. While Barack Obama claims that the
American economy is on the brink of collapse if his economic stimulus package
is not enacted immediately, it is impossible to recall another first three
weeks of a president in modern times, bungling so much, so soon.
From their vantage point,
the remaining political right commentators are promoting the concept that Obama
is creating a version of European socialism. What they seemingly fail to
understand, is European socialism finds its power from a semblance of
centralized planning. There is no central plan in either ObamaÕs economic
stimulus, or in his treasury secretaryÕs plan to restore financial stability.
From the perspective of the
last year under president Bush, with pretty much the same Wall Street focus and
actors in charge, it is impossible to get much traction stating, ÒTrust us we
know what we are doing.Ó
Of course the true context
coming from the Obama administration, is really, ÒTrust me, I havenÕt got a
clue in what we are doing. I donÕt yet claim to be messiah, but I am working
really hard at least to be Moses, who will lead you back to the American
Promised Land.Ó (Of course I am going to do that by allowing leftist secular
progressives to create my programs and agendas.)
Recall not that many years
ago, George W. Bush used that same, we are working really hard line, to attempt
to ease public fears, for some reason. For some reason, I cannot recall what
that reason was, essentially because there was a total disconnect between the
hard work and the results. Alas, times are different now?
The truth is if you have a
bunch of well meaning people, working really hard to do what is right in their
own eyes, you are going to try a bunch of things that seem right, but donÕt
work. The closing of the Biblical book of Judges, closes with, ÒIn those days
there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.Ó
We got into this mess
because, everyone was and is, doing what was and is right in their own eyes,
and there was and is no absolute kingly absolute to provide either secular or
religious standards of behavior.
When you take that
behavioral paradigm and put it into immorally designed greedy and collusive infrastructures,
the product is greed and collusion. That is simple cause and effect, knowledge
and wisdom are not needed, for there are no checks and balances in place.
Whenever I now hear the term
balance, I think of the Fox NewsÕ slogan, ÒFair and Balanced.Ó Fair and balanced being defined as a
number of extremist pundits, if not yelling and screaming at one another, at
least continually interrupting each other, to make some bizarre point, that
relates tangentially to their recent book. These people are given the platform,
because they work for free, at least in the sense, they donÕt get directly paid
by Fox. Their books appeal only
tangentially to real problems, but enforce some concept of self worth in book
buyers, in which everything operates in a speed and scale beyond human control
and understanding.
ÒEverything is spinning out
of control.Ó That concept describes what is really happening essentially in a
world without absolute standards of some sort, absolutely nothing works toward
the higher purpose of humanity and human civilization. This spinning concept is
used more and more to describe reality across the universe of human and natural
activity. Often the adverb ÒseeminglyÓ is added to give the concept described a
sense of a certain reality of the existential. However with or without the
adverb, the sentence seemingly describes an underlying reality of anarchy or
chaos. That bluntly means the described is not organized and hence not
civilized.
Thanks to the demise of the
religious right and their attempt to create a universe of utopian Christendom
in a fallen world, exegesis of this context in moral religious terms no longer
finds any tillable ground; it is just too exclusively exclusive to find
meaningful space in the swirling chaos. So now that religious emphasis shifts
to another humanly planned utopia, based on another solely human paradigm of
the religion of human secularism.
However functioning
communities exist both in nature and in historic human organizations based upon
being exclusively inclusive. To put it bluntly, through natural selection, or
human choice, the exclusively exclusive are eliminated from the gene pool.
Radicals do not reproduce, and definitely donÕt evolve because; contrary to
change spin, only that change that fosters unity in diversity will grow. That
is a natural universal (absolute) law.
Every week since the
inauguration of Barack Obama we have mentioned his community organizing skills
are based upon radical confrontation with the establishment and his method of
organization is Chicago school. In that paradigm potential community members
are recruited to find identity in the exclusively exclusive. Using that concept
one can in a short period of time be elected President of the United States.
Again as we have pointed out since he took office, running the establishment is
a very different skill set, than confronting it, especially radically.
I suppose expecting the man
to even understand that reality in three weeks is asking too much. However, it
is his exclusive rhetoric that quantifies this financial crisis as the worst
since the Great Depression. That
fear driven exclusive tactic still has waiting in the wings for catastrophic
inclusion, the Civil War, the American Revolution, the Tower of Babel, the
Genesis Flood, and the fall of mankind, to be just a little more inclusive.
What is missing from this
brief list however, is the underlying causative agent, which is the desire for
humans to become god in their own eyes, to recreate reality in our likeness, by
simple means we can understand. We are currently working under that human-god
paradigm known as the Enlightenment.
Teams win championships.
Groups of very talented guys, all doing their own thing, lose. That holds true
for all sports. That also holds true for all communities and civilizations
throughout history. The outcome however relates to playing by the rules.
Alex Rodriguez yesterday
admitted to using a performance-enhancing drug earlier in his career. His
explanation was basically that he was young and foolish as he attempted to be
the best baseball player in history. As a consequence, he basically flushed his
opportunity to be known as the best baseball player in history, even though
removing the drug consequence entirely from the universe; he still probably is
the best baseball player in history.
The same story repeats
itself in the case of Michael Phelps the best swimmer in the history of the
sport. One picture huffing on a bong and that milestone is forever tarnished.
Will that story be repeated
in the case of Barack Obama, the first Afro-American President of the United
States? He is the one who has
elevated his championship to the level of world changing. Of course just like
Alex and Michael, he has been reading a considerable amount of positive press.
In this case however, the consequences are much more far reaching.
Exclusive inclusiveness,
rather than radical secular individualism, would and will prevent this
sense-disease of the super inflated ego. When all around you tells you that you
walk on water, we all have that tendency to believe it, just as with the
negative connotation. If everyone tells you, you are the worst scumbag in human
history, you will believe that also.
So in this enlightened world
we are taught to change the scumbag into the star by only our own efforts. Is
it any wonder some make mistakes along the way? We all make mistakes along the
way simply because we are isolated from a community in which our unique gifts
and talents can be accepted as contributing to the greater whole, rather than
just our self appeasement.
There is a flaw in our
concept of economies of scale that promotes personal greatness rather than
civic greatness. Barack, Michael, and Alex share this current stage with CEOÕs
of banks, and other enterprises of humanity. The difference between Barack,
Michael, and Alex is that they work cheap for the fame they have gained. They
also all have shown a tremendous amount of continual personal discipline to
achieve their fame.
What these corporate leaders
have shown is a complete lack of any attributes other than greed and collusion
to make money. For an example, flying under the current radar because of the
stimulus package, is the increase of gasoline prices of about fifty cents a
gallon in a month, while the price of crude oil has maintained a trading range
around $40. WhatÕs up with that?
It is just another
illustration that human enlightenment, knowledge, and wisdom based upon human
enlightenment, knowledge, and wisdom does not contain any energetic value other
than spinning out of control. That action follows the scientific laws of
entropy, essentially that every action that doesnÕt fill up the gas tank,
eventually runs out of gas.
Attempting to create that
gas by creating money does not address any lasting problem. All that happens is
that the ocean of non-energetic debt capital gets deeper, drowning out true
wealth and capital.
Back at the beginning of the
environmental movement, a Pogo cartoon became famous because Pogo proclaimed to
his friend Porkypine, ÒWe have met the enemy, and the enemy is us.Ó What was
never answered in that cartoon was the fact that, conquering the enemy of us
requires resources, beyond us. That reality still demands all our humanly
limited resources. It will not change commonly until we look to becoming
exclusively inclusive. For in the limitations of true human community lies the
reality, that we are not alone, but we were created for GodÕs purposes. In that
light it logically follows the nineteen words:
The fear of the LORD is
the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the
Holy One is understanding.
